Andrew’s Countdown

With better math thanks to Mr. Dintersmith who proved that people really do read this stuff: 42 days until we leave, 1,008 hours, 60,480 minutes, 3,628,000 seconds! Things are getting real. The trip used to be 1 year away, “such a long time!”, “no needing to worry!”, now it is just more than a month! Many people say, “Time flies when you’re having fun!” but that’s just a saying. Time flies anyway! I’ve had 7 shots already with 2 more to go, I’ve (mom) shopped ‘til I dropped for clothes and had 2 school sessions and 4 pool sessions for SCUBA. All these mixed events call for mixed feelings like: scared, excited, happy, sad and PUMPED! 42 days, 1,008 hours, 60,480, minutes, 3,628,000 seconds! Is it enough time??

Andrew, it was a great move early to check out your audience and see if they are on their toes. One thing that is great about traveling around the world is that everyone gets so good at conversions, since you’ll be regularly converting kilometers into miles, kilograms into pounds, and liters into gallons. But my bet is that you’ll also find that your year becomes timeless. At home, there are five weekdays and two weekend days, which isn’t the case when you’re on the road. And you can often go days, even weeks, without looking at a calendar, just looking at all the fabulous things around you! Have a great trip, and thanks for putting us all to the test early!!

  2. Dear Andrew,
Have a great trip. Before you go I would like to give you some fools gold as a good luck charm. Maybe we could squeeze in some time in the pool. I’ll miss you!
    Your friend,
    Matthew

  3. Wow! I am so jealous! Do you have room in your suitcase?
