Ode to Pho

Reis with his new love

Pho, you are my favorite noodle soup

I shall eat you scoop by scoop

Whenever I shall sag and droop

Your good flavor helps me to recoup

My favorite soup, your name is Pho

I wish I’d met you long ago

When I’m not with thee, you cause me woe

When I slurp you, you swish and flow

My lovely Pho, I eat you quick

Until I’m done, and my bowl I’ll lick

Your rice noodles are so smooth and slick

I’ll devour you with any chopstick

My favorite Pho, you’re Vietnamese

I can make you when I please

Even when I’m sick, my stomach agrees

My only hope, you don’t make me obese

  1. Loved listening about your journey on NPR – Here & Now. Another benefit from your experience – sharing with so many others. You’re a bridge to peace and new possibilities for so many! I saw you’re using a Kindle. Wonder if you’ve seen Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World? Would love your feedback and to have you share stories on the Growing Up Global Facebook page. It’s a worldwide community that would love to hear your impressions and experiences!
