Mysa Thirsty – Funky Food

(Andrew) Today we were at a settlement museum in Borganes, Iceland. After learning about mysa (which is the bitter juice that is left over from milk and the vikings pickled stuff in it) and that the cafe up the stairs gave a complimentary taste, we went up to the cafe. Then we got the horrid drink. The waiter gave it to us and said, “Once you have it you have no more thirst, you’ll see why,” which wasn’t very comforting.

Dad then said, “Whoever drinks the whole thing first gets to write the post for Funky Foods” which sparked my thinking of doing it. I picked up the glass and chugged the whole drink down. I had to force the last sip in though.

Look out stomach here it comes!

  2. Andrew Zimern’s got nothing on this crew! Although I have yet to see Mom or Dad ingest a funky food. No hiding behind the camera allowed.

Ewe! That stuff looks gross! Will says he would never taste one drop of that. When we go to Ireland in August, I tell you if we taste disgusting food. You guys are lucky you get to stay up until midnight just because it is light at until then. It gets dark here at like 8:15-8:30. You guys are also lucky because while you guys are on your trip I’m here doing torturous swimteam practice.

  5. Wow, that must be some nasty stuff. I noticed that everyone immediately reached for a glass of water after trying the mysa.

  6. I would still rather drink mysa than eat at McDonalds!!! It looks like you are having a great trip. I really like following your adventures on this blog. From Luke Collins

  7. And to think we could have had the new flavor ice cream called “funky food” at Cold Stone Creamery..Reis. you’re killing me. Where’s the love

  8. I totally agree with Kerri! You guys are living my dream while I’m stuck at swim meets!!!! 🙁
